eM4 provides an easy method to securely transmit personal information over e-mail
March 29, 2006, Hackensack, New Jersey - PaperClip Incorporated, a leading developer of integrated document management and loan processing solutions, has announced the development of eM4, a compliant e-mail service that empowers mortgage professionals to easily use e-mail to transmit a borrower's personal information.
Several privacy acts outlaw the transmission of personal data over standard e-mail. While technology exists to transmit data securely over the Internet, today's market solutions suffer from lack of industry interoperability, they burden trading partners' workflow, and require the support of in-house IT resources.
"Today, PaperClip Incorporated announces a radically new e-mail service which enables users to easily meet compliance laws," states Mike Bridges, president of PaperClip Incorporated. "This is the next evolution of e-mail."
PaperClip's eM4, which stands for 'email for' and is pronounced 'M4', presents a new paradigm for electronic document delivery. It meets compliance, is easy to use, is cost-effective, and can be audited. The eM4 Service can scale from one to thousands of users, and makes industry compliance affordable and uniform.
Subscribers of the eM4 Service are organizations that subscribe to the eM4 Service and install the eM4 application within their data center. The eM4 Service manages the encoding and decoding of email messages and their attachments unattended requiring no user interaction.
eM4 maintains a list of compliant receivers' domains. This domain list has a simple rule: if an email recipient's address domain is in the list, the email is encrypted. If recipients on the email are not eM4 Service subscriber, they are handled as non-subscribers. Regardless, the email is encrypted when it passes through the firewall to the public Internet. There is also the option to secure all outgoing email based on the sender's email address. The encoding and decoding process happens behind the scenes, not impacting current email infrastructures.
The eM4 Service has the ability to easily manage non-subscribers. Unlike subscribers, non-subscribers must decode incoming email messages by clicking on the URL link contained in the email. The link starts a process of decrypting the email message. The email also contains a link which enables the non-subscriber to return an email with attachments to the original sender encoded. This process enables two-way secure communications between subscribers and non-subscribers.
eM4 is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2006.
