McLean, VA September 3, 1999 - The Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) voted to adopt the Electronic Document eXchange Version 2.0 standard recommended by the Association's Technology Committee.
Electronic Document eXchange (EDX) is an open standard designed to package electronic documents and their associated metadata for e-commerce. The Board further adopted the recommended schema to include; last name, first name, social security number, date of birth and agency case number or policy number if available. Initial document types adopted were application, illustration, medical and miscellaneous, money doc, questionnaire's, state forms and correspondence.
With an open standard and defined metadata document, exchange applications will begin to emerge, targeting the paper intense application process currently in place throughout the industry. "EDX has set the stage for us to move away from paper to a more efficient exchange methodology" said Tony Cravitz, CLU, NAILBA Imaging Subcommittee Chair. Cravitz further commented, "I now capture and store my applications in an integrated document management solution so now with EDX I can leverage it." The EDX v2.0 Open Standard maybe downloaded from the NAILBA web site at www.nailba.com.
